İnegöl Municipality will provide its energy from the sun

İnegöl Municipality has taken action for a project of historical importance. İnegöl Municipality, which has made an exemplary effort in terms of using renewable energy sources, has started the installation of a Solar Energy System that will meet all the electricity needs of the institution. The project, which will cost 25 million 439 thousand TL with 3248 solar energy panels to be installed on the roof of İnegöl Municipality Modern Animal Market in Alibeköy Neighborhood, will cover its cost in 4 years. İnegöl Municipality will then reduce its electricity expenditure to zero for approximately 20 years. The budget to be spent on energy will return to the citizens as an investment.

MAYOR TABAN EXAMINED THE PROJECT ON SITE

İnegöl Mayor Alper Taban, together with AK Party İnegöl District Chairman Mustafa Durmuş, party administrators and council members, visited the Animal Market where panel installations have started. Mayor Taban, who also met with the company officials who installed the panel and received information, made the following statement:

THE MUNICIPALITY THAT FULFILLS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE AGE

“The installation of Solar Energy Systems has begun in our Modern Animal Market. Nowadays, we hear about new concepts such as nature-friendly cities, environmental cities, innovative cities, cities that use renewable resources. We have been working on this since the last period to ensure our integration.”

40 PERCENT ENERGY SAVINGS WERE ACHIEVEMENT IN COLD STORAGE

“The use of renewable energy resources in the world has reached 30 percent. In Turkey, 45 percent of our total energy needs are currently met by renewable energy resources. Of course, this does not only include solar energy. There are also resources such as hydroelectric power plants, wind energy, geothermal resources, and natural gas. At this point, we are conducting a series of studies, from improving our air quality to using geothermal resources more correctly, and utilizing solar and wind resources. There is no need to explain the benefits of these in detail. There is a blessing given by God. We want to benefit from this blessing and use it for the benefit of our citizens. In the past term, we created a facility that generates energy from the sun by placing solar energy panels on the roof of the cold storage of our Productive Farmers Cooperative. With this project, 40 percent electricity savings were achieved.”

IT WILL MEET ALL ELECTRICITY NEEDS OF İNEGÖL MUNICIPALITY

“Today, we are starting a project that will meet all the electricity needs of our İnegöl Municipality. We received authorization from our council for the budget of the project in December. We started working immediately. Here, with our rooftop solar power plant application, we will meet our 1.6 megawatt energy need from the installed panels.”

IT WILL PROVIDE FREE ELECTRICITY FOR 20 YEARS

“We signed a contract for the installation of the panels on January 20, 2025, and the site was delivered on February 4, 2025. Our company is İnegöl. Our contract price is 25 million 439 thousand TL. We received an authorization of 40 million from the parliament, but we are using only the amount in the contract. We expect the investment to provide a return and cover its cost in 4-4.5 years. The average lifespan of these facilities is 25 years. After the amortization period, it will provide free energy to our institution for 20 years.”

TARGETED TO BE COMPLETED IN APRIL

“Our roof area is 14 thousand m2. Panel installations have started on 11 thousand 200 m2 of this. A total of 3248 panels will be installed. 1 panel will produce 550 watts, and a total of 1786 kW of energy will be produced in one hour. We will have met the needs of all our units. The solar power plant project will prevent 1768 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in 1 year. This amount is equivalent to the carbon dioxide absorption of 147 thousand 345 trees in 1 year. Our colleagues plan to complete the work by the end of March. We aim to put it into practice in April. Transformer work on one side, panel installations on the other. We had previously done our feasibility studies for suitability in the field. At the end of the day, it is a great pleasure to be able to bring this to life. May it bring good luck to our İnegöl.”
