WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE HIRED IN JULY?

The minimum wage was last raised from 17,000 lira to 22,104 lira in January 2025, an increase of 30 percent. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had previously stated that a decrease in inflation was expected and that if there was a setback, an interim increase could be on the agenda in July.

In the first month of 2025, inflation was announced as 5.03 in January, then the decline continued in February and became 2.27. Inflation was announced as 3.46 in March and 3 percent in April. Inflation decreased to 1.53 in May, and according to the expectations survey in June, it is expected to be 1.77. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security do not have a current study on the minimum wage interim increase. When the minimum wage is increased, employers, labor unions and government officials come together and make a joint decision. The minimum wage increase is expected to be realized in January 2026. MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE SCENARIOS

With the possibility of an interim increase in the minimum wage on the agenda, increase calculations are also being made. While the current minimum wage is paid as 22,104 lira, if there is a 20 percent increase it will increase to 2,420 lira, if there is a 25 percent increase it will increase to 5,526 lira, and if there is a 30 percent increase it will increase to 6,631 lira.

RETIREES AND CIVIL SERVANTS' SALARIES WILL INCREASE IN JULY

There will be an increase in the salaries of retirees and civil servants in July. The salaries of public employees, along with SSK, Bağ-Kur and civil servant retirees, will change. According to the 5-month inflation data, retirees already deserve a 15.10 percent increase. The salaries of civil servants will increase by 5 percent according to the collective agreement and the inflation difference will be made.
