The wind has turned! They are closing one by one

The beauty center sector, which has gained great popularity in recent years, especially with the influence of social media phenomena, has entered a major crisis today.
The “beauty center opening trend” that started in 2023 with Dilan Polat and similar phenomena has lost its former popularity.
When real estate platforms are examined for sale and rent advertisements, it is seen that the most advertisements after cafes and restaurants belong to beauty centers. While there are 1,308 beauty center advertisements on the “yellow site” alone, this number approaches 2,000 when compared to advertisements on other advertisement sites and real estate agents. This shows that there is a great loss of blood in the sector.
PHENOMENONS WERE IMPACTFULAccording to the news in Türkiye Newspaper, experts stated that most of the investors entering the sector are entrepreneurs between the ages of 25-30, and added, “Most of them entered this business just to make quick money without receiving vocational training. Influencers were also influential in this investment idea.
"However, the rapid increase in the number of beauty centers has intensified competition and reduced profits. In addition, many centers are struggling to stay afloat due to high rental prices, imported input costs and operating expenses," he explains.
The President of the Beauty Salon Operators Association Ayşe Aydın made a statement to our newspaper regarding the issue, saying, “People should not waste their money by being carried away by fancy organizations, flashy logos, and dazzling social media posts. If they can, they should go to university, if they can’t, they should go to MEB courses or a state school. Everyone from doctors to influencers, accountants to bankers have their eyes on this sector. Such an image has been created that it seems like everyone is making big money in this sector. Naturally, everyone is trying to enter the sector. We cannot tell anyone who has completed their education and met the legal requirements not to come, but we argue that there should be certain rules for entry.”
THERE IS AN INCREASE IN PROCESS COMPLAINTSAnother factor that has driven customers away is the excessive increase in prices. Today, even a simple beauty procedure starts at 2,000 TL, while more advanced applications can reach up to 50-100 thousand TL.
In addition, health problems experienced by customers as a result of operations carried out with poor quality materials in underground salons have put the sector in difficulty.
This situation has reduced the interest of both local customers and tourists in the sector. Even beauty centers in tourist areas do not attract as much attention as before.
INVEST IN THE RIGHT AREAEntrepreneurial coaches also approach the issue from a different perspective. It is stated that young people in particular can invest in the right business areas where they can improve themselves with that money instead of opening a beauty center by saying they will have a profession.
In the statements made, it was stated that “Opening a beauty center had become fashionable, a matter of status. However, those who invested without knowing this business are disappointed.”
Another serious problem in the sector is alleged to be illegal activities. According to security sources, some beauty centers are also associated with illegal activities such as money laundering, prostitution and drug dealing.
Authorities are conducting more inspections, especially on salons located in low-income neighborhoods. It is stated that security incidents occur very frequently in these centers.
