According to online data platform Numbeo, the monthly electricity, water, and natural gas bill for someone living in an 85-square-meter house in Istanbul is 2,827 lira. This average estimate does not include the 24.6 percent increase in natural gas prices imposed by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) and the 38 percent increase in natural gas prices imposed by BOTAŞ.
Households' monthly bills reach 4,000 lira. A mobile package that includes 10 GB of data, SMS, and talk time costs an average of 487 lira.
Home internet with speeds of 60 Mbps or higher costs an average monthly bill of 585 TL. This brings the average bill for a person to 3,890 TL per month and 46,680 TL per year.
The cost of utility bills can reach 5,500 lira per month and 66,000 lira per year. This means a minimum wage earner earning 22,104 lira can only pay bills with three salaries a year.
