The accident occurred at around 20:00 in the Akat Neighborhood. According to the information received, the private public bus driven by Onur T., which was travelling on the street, crashed into the jeep driven by Iamze K., carrying artist Müjde Ar (70) and her husband, former Minister of CultureMehmet Ercan Karakaş . Müjde Ar and Ercan Karakaş were injured in the accident that occurred as a result of the collision.

HE WAS TAKEN UNDER TREATMENT IN THE HOSPITAL

Traffic teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification , and Ar was slightly injured in the accident. Ar, who did not request an ambulance, was taken to a private hospital where he went on his own.

In a written statement made by the hospital where artist Müjde Ar is receiving treatment, it was stated that Ar, who applied to the hospital with complaints of back and headache due to a traffic accident, was diagnosed with edema and swelling in her right knee due to the impact during detailed examinations.

THE ACCIDENT WAS Caught On Camera

Following the accident, health, fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. Fire crews arrived at the scene in a short time and worked at the scene. Ar and Karakaş, who were in the jeep at the time of the accident, refused to be treated by the health teams and went to the hospital on their own. The moment of the accident, which was investigated and recorded by the police teams, was captured on a security camera.

EYEWITNESS TOLD

Speaking about the incident, Süleyman Soykan said, "It was coming from there fast. I heard a sound from there. We saw that it hit like a thud. Then the police came. The vehicle left the market. We were already here. The car hit the car while it was moving fast. There were no injuries, only minor ones. A woman was probably driving the car. She had a minor injury on her head. Then the ambulance and fire department arrived."

STATEMENT FROM THE HOSPITAL

A statement was made regarding the health condition of Müjde Ar, who was taken to a private hospital in Maslak. The statement reads, "Our patient Müjde Ar applied to our hospital on February 24, 2025 at around 20:30. Müjde Ar, who came to our hospital with complaints of back and headache due to a traffic accident, was diagnosed with edema and swelling in her right knee due to the impact during detailed examinations. The treatment of our patient, who is in good health, is continuing in her normal patient room for observation and follow-up purposes."

WHO IS MEHMET ERCAN KARAKAŞ?

He was born in Çanakkale in 1945. He completed his primary and secondary education in Çanakkale. He started his higher education in Istanbul and completed it in Germany as a Mechanical Engineer. Then he continued his education at the Social Sciences Department of Duisburg University for a while.

He joined SHP in Istanbul in 1986, following the SODEP-HP merger. He first served as provincial secretary. Then he was elected as the Istanbul Provincial Chairman three times. Later, he served as a member of the Party Assembly, Central Executive Board and Deputy Secretary General.

He was elected as a Member of Parliament from the third district of Istanbul in the October 1991 elections. He participated in the protocol and program preparations of the 49th and 50th Coalition governments. He served as Minister of Culture in the 50th Government. He did not sign the decree extending the State of Emergency and Hammer Power. Karakaş resigned from his ministerial position.

He was elected as a member of parliament for the second time from the 3rd District of Istanbul in the elections of December 24, 1995. He served as a member of the TBMM-Foreign Affairs Commission in the 19th and 20th terms. He is married to the movie actress Müjde Ar. In November 2008, Karakaş rejoined the Republican People's Party.
