Cause of death of Hollywood star Maureen Hingert revealed


The death of the famous actress was confirmed by her daughter. It was stated that the master actress died on Sunday due to liver failure.
Born in Sri Lanka in 1937, Hingert has starred in many Hollywood productions, including The King and I, Gun Fever and Gunmen From Laredo . Hingert came in second at the Miss Universe pageant held in Long Beach, California in 1955 and represented Sri Lanka. Entering the pageant at the age of 18, Hingert was the first to bring her country to the finals and contributed to the South Asian island's international recognition.
Hingert made her name in Hollywood with her breakout role in The King and I , starring Yul Brynner, Deborah Kerr and Rita Moreno and nominated for nine Oscars. The film won five Academy Awards.
Hingert also portrayed Native American characters in Western films such as Gun Fever (1958) and Gunmen From Laredo (1959). Hingert, who had a successful modeling and dancing career in addition to her acting, was featured in Playboy magazine in September 1957 thanks to a photo shoot for the film Gun Fever .
After winning the Miss Ceylon title, Hingert moved to California and signed a contract with Universal Studios, where she starred in the Western film Pillars of the Sky alongside Jeff Chandler and Dorothy Malone.
Hingert, who quit acting in 1960, gave birth to her first child, Gina, shortly after. She married Mario Armond Zamparelli in 1958. The couple remained married until 1970. Their daughter Gina died of a brain tumor in 2018 at the age of 59, while their other daughter Andrea died in 2009 at the age of 42.
