Izmir's Çeşme district has been living a nightmare for two days...
The fire, which broke out in Ildır District the previous day and was fought from the ground throughout the night, was intervened from the air at the first light of day. However, due to strong winds, the fire quickly spread to a wide area.
Three neighborhoods were evacuated due to fire risk. The sky turned into a fireball, smoke blinded everyone.
Some sections of the Izmir-Cesme Beltway were closed to vehicle traffic due to the fire. Due to the wind, the flames jumped both roads and spread from the central reservation to the forested area opposite.
While the people of Çeşme are living a nightmare, Gülşen, whose season opening concert in Alaçatı was cancelled this evening, said, "Our hearts are with all the creatures in nature and the heroes serving in the region."
Deniz Seki also announced that her concert in Alaçatı tomorrow has been postponed until July 12. She wished the locals "get well soon".
