Evaluation from İTO President Avdagiç regarding the increase of Türkiye's credit rating

Evaluation from İTO President Avdagiç regarding the increase of Türkiye's credit rating

In his written statement, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Şekib Avdagiç evaluated the decisions of international credit rating agencies Moody's and Fitch Ratings regarding Türkiye's credit rating.

Avdagiç stated, "The continued increase in Türkiye's credit rating has provided a reassuring signal for portfolio investments as well as the real sector. We must continue to carefully monitor the decline in interest rates and the disinflation process."

Avdagiç noted that Moody's surprising upgrade of Türkiye's credit rating to "Ba3" and Fitch Ratings' confirmation of "BB-", in line with market expectations, demonstrate both the interest in Turkish assets and that we are on the right track.

Avdagiç, emphasizing the need to remain cautious, said, "We believe that the factor that will elevate the Turkish economy to an 'investment-grade' rating in the eyes of credit rating agencies and the real sector will be the continued and increased implementation of measures prioritizing production and financing in our businesses. We must proceed with determination to obtain an investment-grade rating from at least two of these agencies."
