Midiliç, who carves coats of arms and various motifs onto materials such as chicken, goose, ostrich eggs, and gourds, has begun to attract considerable interest from locals. Midiliç, who has been transforming eggs into works of art for seven years, said her creations have attracted interest from residents in many cities across Türkiye.
Deniz Midiliç, who also stated that he was a shuttle driver, made the following statement:
Seven years ago, I became interested in eggshell and gourd carving after seeing it on social media. I contacted our master, found his phone number, and learned what techniques and tools he used. Thanks to videos on social media and video chats with my master, I procured the necessary tools and equipment and started working on my balcony. Eventually, when space became limited, I rented a small workshop in the Çorum Dikiciler Bazaar and continue my carving there. I use goose eggs, chicken eggs, ostrich eggs, and gourds to create keychains, magnets, and decorative objects. I can also engrave custom designs, such as logos or crests, on each product.
Midiliç, emphasizing that his art is practiced by only a few people in Türkiye, said, "I send my handcrafted works not only to Çorum but to many locations throughout Türkiye. I'm the only one who does eggshell carving in Çorum, while there are only 15 masters of this art in the country. I participated in an interview with the Ministry of Culture regarding intangible cultural heritage and am awaiting the results. My goal is to document myself in this field and further develop my art. I invite everyone in my age group and above to invest their free time in these kinds of handicrafts, both as a hobby and contributing, however small, to their family's finances."
