Upon receiving information that Brigadier General Semih Terzi, a member of the Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ) and a putschist, had arrived at the headquarters in Gölbaşı, Ankara, to seize control of the Special Forces Command, Chief Master Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir, on the orders of Lieutenant General Zekai Aksakallı, the then Special Forces Commander, shot Terzi at the entrance, changing the course of the coup attempt. Halisdemir was killed by gunfire opened by other FETÖ traitors immediately after neutralizing Terzi.

In the nine years since his martyrdom, Halisdemir's heroism has been etched in Türkiye's memory. A special operation was carried out at the spot where he fell, protecting the area where the blood stains were found and covering it with a transparent and durable material. Immediately behind the covered ground stands Halisdemir's monument. Meanwhile, a fountain was built at the spot where Halisdemir fell after being shot by FETÖ traitors. The fountain features the poem "30 Birds" by poet Dursun Ali Erzincanlı.

This area, which symbolizes the resistance and sacrifice of the heroic Martyr Ömer Halisdemir, is carefully protected by the Special Forces Command.
