Sabiha Gökçen Airport breaks new records

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) Airport frequently breaks records during the summer months. Those who combined the weekend with the public holiday of Tuesday, July 15th for a "four-day break" set a new record for ISG. On Saturday, July 12th, the terminal served a total of 147,781 passengers, including 65,552 domestic and 82,229 international passengers, reaching an all-time high. The previous record was set on June 5th with 144,590 passengers. The number of flights remained the same as the previous record of 796 flights set on June 5th. Of these, 335 were domestic and 461 were international.

Another record was broken in the number of international passenger arrivals and flights. On Saturday, July 12th, the number of international flight arrivals reached 232, while the number of international passenger arrivals reached 42,434. The previous international passenger arrival record was set on June 4th with 41,959 passengers. The previous international flight arrival record was set on June 8th with 231 flights. At ISG, which has become a strategic hub for air connections between Europe, Asia, and Africa, the positive effects of the "Passenger Flow Improvement Project," implemented in 2024 with an investment of approximately €34 million to meet dynamically increasing passenger demand, are particularly noticeable during busy holiday periods. Known as the "City's Airport" for its ease of access and proximity to central locations, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) connects Istanbul and its surrounding area to a total of 148 destinations, 39 domestic and 109 international, in 53 countries.
Reflecting its great potential as a rapid growth, Istanbul's gateway to the world (ISG) became the fastest-growing airport among the "MAJOR Airports" in Europe, the category of airports with over 40 million passengers, according to the Airports Council of Europe (ACI) May 2025 Air Traffic Report. ISG served approximately 3.94 million passengers in May, registering a 14.9% growth compared to the same period last year.
