Beaches in Istanbul are ready for the season; there are those with an entrance fee of 1500 lira

While the entrance fee to some beaches in Şile is 300 lira, it goes up to 800 lira at others. On the Islands, the entrance fee starts at 600 lira and goes up to 1500 lira. Şile business owner İrfan Tutar said, "Şile has 60 kilometers of sandy beach. Anyone who wants can swim for free anywhere. We provide services such as sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and shuttles here. That's why we charge a fee. Last year it was 800 lira, and it remained the same this year. We haven't increased the price at all."
The beach season on the Islands starts between May 31 and June 1. In Büyükada and Heybeliada, where private businesses are located, entrance fees start at 600 TL on weekdays and rise to 1500 TL on weekends. In some beaches, this fee is determined as a spending limit that can be used inside.
The season in Kilyos is also planned to open in the second week of June. Daily entrance prices are 500 TL on weekdays and 750 TL on weekends. Businesses preparing to open the season on June 1 in Sarıyer have set entrance fees as 600 TL on weekdays and 800 TL on weekends.

The entrance fee to the beach belonging to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Florya, which was 60 TL last year, has been set to 120 TL this year. Özcan Öztürk, who uses the beach, said, “This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Istanbul. It has everything, sunbeds, umbrellas, showers. The service is also good, it is a very nice place as a beach. As far as I know, the entrance fee this year is 120 TL. The season will open in a week, I will go and enter when the season opens.”

In Şile, you can enter the sea for free at public beaches such as Ayazma, Ağlayankaya and Kurfallı. In private businesses, entrance fees start from 300 TL and can go up to 800 TL. İrfan Tutar, a business owner providing service in Şile, stated that the fee charged is not for entering the sea but for the service provided, and said, "Şile has 60 kilometers of sandy beach. In other words, anyone who wants can enter the sea for free anywhere. But here we provide services such as sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and shuttles. That is why we charge a fee. Last year it was 800 TL, and it remained the same this year. We did not increase the prices at all." Another business owner, Cahit Savcı, stated that the season will start with the school holidays. The prosecutor said, "Şile is no longer the old Şile, it has become crowded. The season starts after the holiday. Last year, the entrance fee per person was 250 TL, this year we increased it to 300 TL. A meatball portion is 400 TL, a hamburger is 350 TL, and canned drinks are around 60-70 TL. Still, our prices are reasonable."
Büşra Yücel, who lives in Şile, said, "My relatives who swim in Istanbul are very happy. In my opinion, there are very few places to swim in Istanbul because the seas are dirty. But since private businesses do maintenance, they can be recommended."

Mihriban Koçhan said, "I find it normal that there is a fee. Free places are very crowded. I prefer quieter places like Silivri and Büyükçekmece. Paid beaches are more logical as long as the fee is reasonable."
