Nine years have passed since the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, 2016. All the heroes who contributed to this struggle for independence, a significant turning point in Turkey's political history, continue to be commemorated with annual events. The 5th Homeland Run, organized as part of this initiative, was a vibrant and exciting event on Çengelköy Beach. Citizens of all ages, from 7 to 70, joined the run, starting from the Çengelköy Martyrs' Fountain and continuing to the July 15 Martyrs' Monument, to commemorate the martyrs of July 15 and to cherish the memories of this meaningful day.

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, in a statement before the race, said, "That day, our nation stood against the treacherous coup attempt with its hands and hearts. They rushed to the squares at the call of our President. It is a glorious epic, an epic of resurrection, that our nation repelled this treacherous coup attempt orchestrated by imperialist powers. Our youth have never forgotten this, and will never forget it. As the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we strive to convey to our youth the spirit of July 15th, the spirit of Çanakkale, the spirit of Malazgirt. This year, we are taking 110,000 young people to Çanakkale. With our youth's 5th Homeland Run, we are also commemorating that glorious resistance in Çengelköy. There was a resistance here where soldiers trying to go from Kuleli to the bridge were blocked. There was a tremendous resistance here. That day was the day when we understood that the heart and the nation won against the tanks, that no power can stand against the power of the people. The Republic of Turkey will always stand." The 5th Homeland Run, which started from the Çengelköy Martyrs' Fountain, was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Enis Eminoğlu, Istanbul Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Muhittin Özbay, Üsküdar District Governor Adem Yazıcı and many citizens.
