Social media requirement for US visa applications for Turks

The US Embassy in Ankara announced that it has become mandatory for social media accounts for visa applications to be public.
The following statements were made in the statement made by the US Embassy:
Every visa decision is a national security decision. Effective immediately, all applicants for an F, M, or J nonimmigrant visa will be required to set the privacy settings on all personal social media accounts to "public" to facilitate the necessary investigations to prove their identity and admissibility to the United States.
WHICH VISAS ARE COVERED?
F visas
F‑1: Academic undergraduate/graduate/doctoral students
F‑2: Spouses and children of F‑1 visa holders
F‑3: Border students in Canada and Mexico
M visas
M‑1: Students receiving vocational training
M‑2: Spouse and children of the owner of M‑1
J visas
J‑1: Exchange visitor programs (student, researcher, intern, au pair, etc.)
J-2: Spouses and children of J-1 owners
