Ahsoka Season 2 Teases More Action and Intrigue

Dave Filoni took the stage at Star Wars Celebration, ostensibly for a look back at season one of Ahsoka—but the main attraction was, of course, the first concrete news regarding season two of the Rosario Dawson-starring series. Fans have been waiting for updates since the emotional and open-ended season one finale back in late 2023, and Filoni finally delivered the goods.
Inspired by retro adverts for A New Hope‘s sequel before anything had been filmed for Empire Strikes Back, the new teaser for season 2, the new trailer was made entirely of concept art for the season, with voiceover narration teasing the coming battle between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant.
The tease included glimpses of fleet battles between New Republic and Remnant ships, with Ezra suiting up alongside New Republic pilots to take the fight to the Empire. Meanwhile, in the other galaxy where Ahsoka and Sabine stayed after season one, we saw shots of the Master and Padawan exploring ancient ruins, and fighting giant, old droid guardians, with narration teasing a final confrontation with Baylan Skoll to culminate their journey.
Other intriguing shots included David Tennant’s droid Huyang squaring off with Shin Hati (seemingly splitting his arms into multiples akin to Grievous, a saber in each hand), and Chopper blasting away with a massive repeater cannon. The trailer also confirmed that Rebels‘ Zeb Orrelios, after his live-action debut in The Mandalorian, would finally be reunited with his animated compatriots.
Ahsoka‘s first season ran for eight episodes and explored not only the life of Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano—spinning off the character’s life-action debut in The Mandalorian—but also fellow Star Wars Rebels heroes Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi).
It also brought Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) to live-action for the first time, and featured the return of Hayden Christensen as future Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker.
The Star Wars Celebration panel confirmed the news that Game of Thrones star Rory McCann will take over the role of former Jedi Baylan Skoll, stepping in for the late Ray Stevenson, who portrayed the character in season one. Further teases included the fact that Admiral Ackbar will appear in the season, going “head to head” with Thrawn, and Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as the chosen one, Anakin Skywalker.
