A woman from the UK is fighting for her life after becoming ill after getting a tattoo at a hen do in Benidorm. Poppy-mae Crutchley, 29, from Worcester, is in a coma in the Spanish city with kidney, lung and heart failure.

Her friend, Jodie Odell, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help pay for her treatment. Ms Odell said her pal fell ill straight after getting the tattoo during her first all-girls foreign holiday.

She said Ms Crutchley was so unwell she took herself to the hospital where "instantly and amazingly" they acted straightaway because there was "no oxygen in her body and fluid on her heart".

Ms Odell said her friend was transferred to another hospital in Spain that specialises in her condition, adding, "We all have faith in getting her back to her normal, bubbly, beautiful self, and with your help, we can give her the best chance possible."

It has not been possible to confirm Ms Crutchley's exact illness, but according to Ms Odell, medics are unsure whether it is a bacterial infection or if she was a victim of spiking.

Ms Odell said: "We all have faith in getting her back to her normal bubbly beautiful self... The last thing the family need to be worrying about at a time like this is the ongoing costs."

A the time of writing, just over £4,600 had been donated towards a £14,000 target.

Ms Crutchley's pal described her as "a beautiful, bright, charismatic, kind young woman" who has her whole life ahead of her.

She added: "She's the light and joy to all our lives but especially her nephews... and not forgetting her new puppy waiting for her, the puppy she has put before her own needs countless times since having her.

"She’s that kind of person with a heart of gold... Our family are so close and we see each other almost every day. She doesn’t deserve this and our hearts are breaking without her home."
