M3 traffic LIVE: Chaos on major motorway as incident sparks road closure
Normal traffic conditions on the M3 eastbound between J12 and J13 may not resume until around 1pm, National Highways has warned.
Emergency services are currently at the scene after a "medical incident" and the disruption is not expected to clear until between 1:15pm and 1:30pm.
Motorists are also facing delays of around 30 minutes on the M27 eastbound between Junction 4 and the M3, according to the AA's traffic map - with cars travelling at an average speed of 5mph.
Maps show heavy congestion along a stretch of the M3 between J12 for Eastleigh and J14 for the Chilworth Interchange. The eastbound entry slip at J13 has also been closed for what National Highways has designated as a "severe" incident that could cause disruption until around 11am.
Drivers travelling eastbound on the M3 have been advised to take the following diversion route:
Exit the M3 eastbound at J13 and right on to the A335. Turn left onto Woodside Avenue at junction with A335. Follow to 2nd roundabout with A335. Turn left at the roundabout.Join the A335 and follow to M3 J12. Continue across 1st roundabout and turn right at 2nd roundabout to re-join the M3 eastbound.National Highways has closed all eastbound lanes between J12 and J13 of the M3 after a "medical emergency".
The stretch is expected reopen by 10:45am. Drivers are experiencing delays of around 30 minutes.
