My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2: What We Know So Far

My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2: What We Know So Far
preview for My Life With the Walter Boys | Official Trailer | Netflix

Spoilers ahead.

Netflix asked, and audiences have answered: There, apparently, are not yet enough Walter boys. The coming-of-age romantic drama series My Life with the Walter Boys, widely acknowledged as Netflix’s answer to Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, climbed the Netflix charts during the first week of December, but its cliffhanger ending begs the question: If not more Walter boys now, then when?

Based on the book of the same name by Ali Novak—initially published on Wattpad, and written when the author herself was only 15 years old—My Life with the Walter Boys follows 15-year-old Manhattanite Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) as she’s transplanted from New York to Colorado, following the tragic death of her family in a car accident. In the Colorado countryside, she’s taken under the wing of the Walters, a sweet, enormous family featuring a statistically absurd number of strapping young boys. None of these boys seem to pay much mind to the fact that Jackie’s—sort of, anyway—their sister now. The Walter brothers Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry), in particular, almost immediately begin vying for her affections.

That leads us, necessarily, down the route of the rom-com love triangle, with Jackie dating Alex for a few episodes before she and Cole get the chance to have their big kiss in the end. Finally, Jackie’s called back to New York—this time with a purely platonic Walter boy, Danny, in tow—and must say goodbye to her other Walter boys...though that doesn’t negate the possibility of a family reunion, especially given her obvious lingering feelings for Cole.

Novak indicated that the season finale might not be the series finale. On her website FAQ, she wrote, “In the past I’ve said there won’t be a published sequel [to My Life with the Walter Boys.] However, now that the show has been released on Netflix, I may or may not be working on something exciting!” Well, now we know for sure.

Has filming wrapped yet?

It sure has, and show creator Melanie Halsall says that the second season is “bigger and better.” “We’ve got massive set pieces in each episode, and the stories are more intricate,” she added. “We found our feet with our characters, [and] the actors really understand their characters now. When I was coming back, I was excited to start shooting again because I knew we had great stories to tell.”

Who is in the season 2 cast?

Nikki Rodriguez will return as Jackie, alongside season 1 regulars Sarah Rafferty, Marc Blucas, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link, Corey Fogelmanis, Jaylan Evans, Zoë Soul, Isaac Arellanes, Myles Pere, Alex Quijano, Ashley Tavares, Dean Petriw, Alix West Lefler, Lennix James, Alisha Newton, Ellie O’Brien, Kolton Stewart, Mya Lowe, Gabrielle Jacinto, Jesse Lipscombe, and Nathaniel Arcand.

We’ll also be seeing some new faces in Silver Falls. The season two cast will expand to include Natalie Sharp (BH90210), Carson MacCormac (Luckiest Girl Alive), Janet Kidder (Star Trek: Discovery), Riele Downs (Bel-Air), and Jake Manley (The Order).
