1000-Lb Sisters: Tammy Slaton Reveals Skin Removal Before and After
Tammy Slaton is seeing a new person when she looks in the mirror.
The 1000-Lb Sisters star saw the results of her skin removal surgery in the June 10 episode of the TLC show, and the effects left her practically speechless. In fact, when the medical staff removed her bandages—leaving her face free save for a final piece of tape under her chin—all Tammy could utter was an awe-filled, “Boy…”
And in a subsequent confessional, after some of the swelling had gone down, the 38-year-old could hardly contain her joy.
“I'm shocked, like I feel so weird,” she told cameras, before joking of the skin they removed from her chin, “I don't have my hanging ballsack off my face. My bat wings are gone, too. And I look down, and there’s nothing there but my lap now.”
Tammy added, “It’s going to take a little while for me to get used to seeing myself like this.”
But from the look on her face as she gazed at herself in the hospital mirror, or her giggles as she sits in front of the show’s producers during her confessional, it was clear Tammy is thrilled with what she’s seeing.
For her brother Chris Combs, he just wants her to be proud of all she’s accomplished.
“Honestly, I'm hoping Tammy sees a new person in that mirror,” he told cameras. “She's put all this work in to lose all this damn weight, so it's time for her to feel good, too, about herself.”
Prior to her surgery, Tammy had shared her anxiety—about both the procedure itself and what she might look like afterwards.
“Just really the pain and then my fear of how I'm going to look [when] looking at myself afterwards,” she said during the June 3 episode. “I'm so used to seeing all this hanging [from] my arms and now when I wake up Sunday or Saturday, I'm not going to have this anymore.”
She continued, “I'm going to look halfway normal from [the] face down. It's scary but rewarding at the same time.”
Her skin removal surgery—a common procedure for those who have lost significant amounts of weight—is just the most recent step in Tammy’s ongoing transformation process, which has seen the reality star lose 500 pounds in four years.

As of August 2024, she has lost 500 pounds.
The reality star shared a snap of herself in a floral print dress on Instagram in June 2023.
That same month, Tammy posted a group photo with her brother Chris Combs and YouTuber Chelcie Lynn.
In July 2023, Tammy mourned the death of her husband Caleb Willingham. "Rip sweet angel you will forever be missed and loved so much," she wrote on Instagram alongside throwback photos, "thank you Caleb for showing me real love and happiness."
