In contrast to previous years, 2025 makeup trends have been easy to integrate into everyday routines, offering a small but fun creative outlet each morning. With bold colors, creative shapes, art-inspired aesthetics and totally unique styles, there are so many ways to take each trend and make them your own.

2025's hottest makeup trends offer plenty of room for experimentation as they encourage working with your features rather than against them. Whether you emphasize your eyes with cool and sleek siren eyeliner or highlight your nose for an adorable doll-like aesthetic, it's all about experimenting to see what makes you feel your best.

Below, we looked at trend reports, talked to experts, and searched through celeb pics to find some of the hottest makeup trends of 2025 and how to do them at home with buzzy trending products. Lip combos continue to evolve, and now, lip contour has entered the chat. Sure, getting the colors right is one thing, but shaping is another. Complementing your liner with some subtle shadowing can also help colors pop, especially if you're going for a quintessential springtime hues. It just completes the look. Hailey Bieber launched the new Rhode lip shapers, solidifying this step in our beauty routines. But if you can't get your hands on one, a simple drugstore product can help you get the look with this professional makeup artist tip. Jen Tioseco, whose clients include Vanessa Hudgens and Ariana Greenblatt, cosigns this trend and tells Teen Vogue, “One of my favorite hacks is after I’ve applied my lip liner, I take Aquaphor Lip Repair Stick, Naturally Inspired with Coconut Oil and a lip brush, coating one side of the brush in the product. This creates a slip that allows me to blend the edges of my lip liner out seamlessly.”

It was only a matter of time before this siren eyeliner became a go-to, and it seems like in 2025 it will finally get a moment of its own. Back in 2022, TikTok users compared different styles of eyeliner, dubbed doe eyes and siren eyes. The Little Mermaid influenced trends in 2023. Not too long later, the office siren aesthetic made waves on TikTok and became one of Google’s top trending searches of 2024. Then, we slowly started to see tightlining become increasingly popular on runways, red carpets and beyond, until it became one of winter’s biggest trends. Pinterest predicts that sea witchery will be one of the hottest trends of 2025, including makeup, so you might want to sharpen your eyeliner pencils over the holiday break. To get the look, line your eyes to your preferred fullness and thickness, extending the inner corner downwards and the outer corner into a wing.

Cloud skin has already become a mainstay in our routines, and now we’re opting for cloud versions of every step of our makeup routine. Influencer Golloria George describes this trend as “the perfect mix of soft-focus elegance and diffused edges, combining velvety skin with dreamy, blurred-out eyeshadow and lip looks.” George says this “romantic” style is an evolution of no-makeup makeup looks and TikTok’s love for soft textures. To get the look, she recommends getting a smooth base with a hydrating primer like Milk Hydro Grip, a satin-matte foundation like Haus Labs Tri-Clone Foundation, and Danessa Myrick’s Blurring Balm Powder for a soft focus effect. “For Black beauty specifically, it’s about making sure the matte finishes don’t feel dull or drying but look plush and rich,” George adds. “As brands continue to drop inclusive formulas, Black beauty lovers are redefining matte glam in a way that highlights rather than hides our unique features.” Next, blend your eyeshadow with a thicker, fluffier brush to diffuse the edges and blur your lipstick with a finger or small brush instead of using a liner. Lastly, opt for a healthy dose of a matte blush on the tops of your cheeks and blend into your contour. George recommends deep corals, brick reds and especially plums for those with deeper skin tones.

Matte isn't your thing? Don't worry about it. Glass skin cheeks are also a major trend this season. Melissa Hernandez, who did Mikey Madison's Oscars look, says, “A beauty trend I expect to go viral this season is glass skin cheeks. This ultra-dewy, natural flush was everywhere at Paris Fashion Week, especially on the runways of Chloé and Victoria Beckham. Models looked fresh-faced, as if they had just stepped out of a facial, with plump, hydrated cheeks catching the light in all the right places.” To get the look without buying a brand new blush, Hernandez suggests “mixing a pinch of Aquaphor Healing Ointment with liquid blush or bronzer. It adds a glossy, plumped effect without looking greasy, leaving the skin healthy, hydrated, and effortlessly glowy.”

Just like lip combos, blush combos are having their moment. Largely influenced by Sabrina Carpenter, creating a custom concoction of blush is a fun way to experiment with makeup in 2025. Not only does it add dimension to the look, which looks great on camera, but it can also make your look unique. But don’t stop at just mixing blushes together. Up the ante by combining it with your highlighter, too. Take a tip from Teen Vogue’s very own Aiyana Ishmael and blend the edges out with the foundation or concealer brush you just used for a softer look.

Pantone announced Mocha Mousse as their color for 2025. And while many might reach straight for eyeshadow or eyeliner, lipstick might actually be how to incorporate it into your look. After all, pale lipsticks have been trending, from light pinks to milk tea hues. Why not take it up a notch? Makeup artist Natalie Dresher says, “Mocha mousse might be an unexpected but great option for a lipstick shade because it is a cool-toned nude or brown, depending on your skin tone. Cool-toned lipsticks make the teeth look brighter and whiter and are generally more flattering than warm tones on the lips. The mocha mousse color is neutral, which also makes it easy to pair with a dark smokey eye or a pop of color on the eyes — making it a shade you’ll wear often.” And if you’ve already been enjoying the low-key makeup look, this will fit right in with your makeup collection.

According to Pinterest Predicts 2025, we’re getting all dolled up this year. Good thing we had a lot of practice. Cloud skin was the first hint that this trend was on the horizon as we swapped our glowy glossy bases for a matte finish that glowed from within instead. Then, Douyin makeup’s doll-like finish, achieved with a good helping of glitter and long clustered eyelashes, went viral. And, finally, Barbie and the Bratz resurgence sealed our fate. The attitude of the trend, which makeup artist Gabriel Barse says “taps into the desire to embody a heightened version of oneself—a ‘living doll’ ideal—without veering into unnatural extremes,” makes it fun to keep experimenting with, as you find the routine that makes you feel your cutest. Don’t know where to start? Influencer Daus Mendoza has it down: “I love adding more blush or adding white gel liner to my water line and a touch of mascara on my lower lashes to give me that doll-like finish.” Barse also recommends fluttery eyelashes and soft, gradient lips.

Another way to get that doll-like look is to focus on your eyelashes, building length on the outer corners. However, this is a style that lends itself to all sorts of looks, even if doll makeup isn't your thing. “The tapered lash trend is popular this year because everyone wants defined lashes, and it allows for a natural look, where length can show through,” says Armani Beauty makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez, who has worked on Sabrina Carpenter, Gigi Hadid, and other celebs. She suggests reaching for the new Armani Beauty mascara for that effortless touch, “As much as you build on it, Vertigo Lift Mascara still holds that tapered look because it mimics the natural lash hair and lash hairs are all tapered naturally.”

If mocha mousse isn’t your thing, don’t fret. Lilac makeup products have been popping up like daisies (or should we say lavender?). Many brands just unveiled lilac products earlier this year. First, lilac blush went viral and found its way into our beauty drawers. Huda Kattan also launched a soft purple setting powder, with a dreamy blush-like finish. Now that it's spring, it's the perfect time to experiment with this shade if you're still on the fence about it since you can pass it off as a festive look.

As Barse says, “think Marie Antoinette meets modern glam—rosy cheeks, soft-focus contours, and delicate accents around the eyes and lips” when you see Rococo on Pinterest’s report. Inspired by the mid 1700s, this trend slowly but surely made its way to the forefront as trends like soft thin eyebrows, heavy blush and pastel eyeshadows gained popularity over the years. Burgundy isn’t going anywhere just yet. The color has taken over our wardrobes, hair and nails, and now, it’s time to start incorporating it into your makeup too. Per Pinterest’s report, cherry is going to be one of the hottest colors of the year, and it seems like that’s already shaping to be true for the beauty world. Fronted by Olivia Rodrigo, Lancôme just dropped a new shade of the L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte lipstick called plum addiction, proving that statement hues like dark purplish reds are making a comeback.

Icy eyeshadow has already started making its comeback. It was the perfect look for the holiday season thanks to its wintry nature, but it can also lend itself to many different looks, making it an easy way to add some flair to your style. Reminiscent of the late 90s and early 00s, white, silver, and blue eyeshadows have been spotted on stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Chlöe Bailey, and more. Whether you go matte or indulge in some sparkles, there are plenty of options out there since brands have been dropping more icy eyeshadows and palettes.

Sometimes less is more. The no mascara look is super bold even though it calls for skipping product. It lets your eyeshadow and eyeliner do all the talking instead. Despite it being one of the more controversial trends, it already has gained some traction, getting love from BLACKPINK's Rosé.

Glitter doesn't have to be reserved for eyeshadow only, though. With the Y3K aesthetic, one of Google's trending searches of 2024, sparkles, metallics and cool tones are thematic. To incorporate the look into your routine, just take some inspo from Euphoria, Barse suggests. Opt for a chrome eyeliner for a totally futuristic look (but instead of buying a new one, Barse suggests just applying your favorite eyeshadow as a liner with a precision brush). Or, for something more subtle, mix a little bit of a dewy highlighter into your base makeup for a glow all over. And don't forget face gems and embellishments. Barse recommends holographic pigments too.
