After Years of Testing, These Are Our Editors Favorite Sheets

After Years of Testing, These Are Our Editors Favorite Sheets
Luxe Core Sheet Set
Pros
  • Our pick for cold sleepers
  • Washes easily
Cons
  • Fitted sheet is on the tight side

If you prefer cotton sateen to percale, Brooklinen makes the best ones we've found. Soft as all get out, but without the shininess of slipperiness of a material like linen.

A set is reasonably priced at $199 for a Queen, but what you get what you're paying for. The 480 thread count is in that sweet spot for cotton sateen—high enough to feel smooth and luxe, low enough to not be too hot.

In short, this is the perfect Goldilocks sheet. Everyone can use a set of these and be happy.

Materials100% Long-Staple Cotton
Contents1 Flat Sheet, 1 Fitted Sheet, and 2 Pillowcases
Linen Sheet Set
Pros
  • Breathable and only gets softer
  • Lots of color choices
Cons
  • No full size option

These are our favorite sheets of 2025. Cultiver's newest release is an amazing linen that comes in a handful of tasteful shades and designs. We're especially in love with the chalk stripe looking designs in gray and this dusty orange. The linen is really high quality, so they get better the more you wash them, but out of the ox it's still some of the best linen we've touched.

It's $480 for the whole set of queen/king sized sheets, which is luxury pricing. There's the option to buy the sheets separately if you want to mix and match material or color. Actually when you purchase the set, you are technically buying it piecemeal in the first place. So if, for example, you don't like to sleep with a top sheet or you already have pillowcases, you can drop any of the components you don't need. Pretty nifty.

Best Cotton Percale Sheets

Stonewashed Organic Cotton Percale Sheet Set
Pros
  • Great for hot sleepers
  • Uses organic cotton
Cons
  • Reported shrinkage

This past year linen purveyor The Citizenry finally dropped a set of cotton percale sheets, and simply put, they are some of the best. These 2025 Esquire Home Award winning sheets live up to the hype. Here's what we had to say when awarding them the best new sheets.

"These sheets are the definition of cool, crisp, and ideal for sweaty summer sleeping. While there are a lot of percale sheets we love, not a ton of them use 100 percent organic cotton. The Citizenry’s transparency mission makes this a purchase you can feel good about."

Best Cotton or Linen Alternative

Bamboo Sheet Set
Pros
  • Absurdly soft
  • Free returns in the first 100 nights
Cons
  • Like maybe too soft

We've never tried to hide the fact that we love Cozy Earth's sheets. If cotton or linen have never really done it for you, maybe it's time you take bamboo for a spin.

That's right, bamboo! More specifically, bamboo viscose—which just means bamboo rayon, essentially. The result is a texture that's somewhere between between cotton percale, cotton sateen, and silk. They're a bit shiny like sateen and silk. They're drapey like silk or even jersey. But, they keep you cool like cotton percale. And unlike anything else we've slept on, they're so fucking soft.

If you're not sure about all of that, they've got a nice little 100 night trial period. You can give them a shot with no pressure. And they come in all sizes too—even if you have a California or Split King.

TempTune Cotton Sheet Set
Pros
  • Temperature-regulating
  • Soft, breathable cotton
Cons
  • Lack of color options

As it turns out, comfortable body temperature is one of the most important parts of getting a good night's sleep. If you're looking for for hardcore cooling, Sijo's sheets are the best version of it. With a blend of Supima cotton and CLIMA fabric (a natural cellulose fiber) you get one of those fabrics that can do it all. It's crisp and cool, moisture wicking, and surprisingly durable.

Best European-Style Sheets

Luna Linen Fitted Sheet
Pros
  • Soft, with a relaxed fit
  • Great colors
Cons
  • Not all sizes have the same color options available

If you're just looking for a fitted sheet and duvet cover, we recommend the linen from Soho Home, a cornerstone of the brand's at-home offering. As is the norm in European households, the brand sells linen sheets as fitted, duvet cover, and pillowcases. No top sheet. It makes for a much more simple, often more comfortable, sleeping situation. You can get a duvet for the winter, and you can just use a light quilt (or a duvet cover with no fill) in the warmer months. We've done it before, and it's quite nice.

The real reason I'm recommending Soho Home is actually the colors. No other home brand gets color theory perfect, in our opinion. The linen colors are a little subdued, and they look perfect on a perfectly ruffled bed. If you care about the way it looks as much as how it feels, this is where you should go.

Giza 45 Natura Collection
Pros
  • The best materials in the world
  • Beautifully stitched
Cons
  • That price is just for the duvet

Yeah, yeah. Look at the price tag. They better be the "Best Luxury Sheets," for that much. I get it. But, let me tell you, SFERRA's bedspreads are life changing.

Chief among their pricey bedding offerings is Giza 45 Natura. It's a luxe cotton sateen made with cotton grown along the Nile River. Then, in Italy, the fibers are woven into a jacquard fabric. If that's not worth paying this much for, nothing really is.

Best Classic Flannel Sheets

Flannel Sheet Set
Pros
  • A pair of sheets to settle into over time
  • Keeps you warm
Cons
  • Pretty stiff to start

Like the beach tote bag, duck boot, and (coincidentally) flannel shirt, L.L.Bean just makes the best version of a flannel sheet set as you'll find anywhere. Sure, it might not have the luxe feel of those Coyuchi sheets, but that's the point.

They'll feel a bit rustic at first, but the more you wash these sheets, the softer they become. By the second or third winter you pull them out, they'll feel like a second skin... but a softer and warmer second skin.

SoftStretch Sheet Set
Pros
  • Making the bed is easy
  • Helpful for hot sleepers
Cons
  • Not as traditionally soft as cotton or linen

Listen, around here we love our Purple pillows and Purple mattress. If you're all in on the brand's non-traditional approach to bedding, the SoftStretch sheets are next on your shopping list.

Extremely flexible, these stretchy sheets will fit taller mattresses with no issues. They make laundry day a whole helluva lot easier too. Making the bed is no longer the traumatic experience it was was with your old fitted sheet.

Start with what type of sleeper you are—hot, standard, or cold—since that is the biggest determiner of fabrics. From there, look for a brand that makes the best version of what you want. Our rankings are pretty objective, but you might want to play the field. If so, here are the ideal fabrics for each type of sleeper:

Hot - Linen, cotton percale, or other tech-y cooling blends.

Standard - Cotton sateen, high thread count cotton percale, and everything else that's not wool or flannel.

Cold - Wool blends and flannels.

Bed size: All the prices listed in this article all for Queen sized beds. While most of these selections come in all bed sizes, some are more limited and may exclude Twin, Twin XL, and other less common sizes for adult beds.

Mattress height: If you have an extra tall mattress, you'll want to double check the fitted sheet measurements in particular to make sure it will fit. Don't forget to account for a mattress topper if need be.

Care Instructions: When buying sheets, it's important to read the care instructions and make sure you to follow them. Machine wash cold doesn't mean warm is ok. Not with bed sheets.
