The unexpected passing of Ozzy Osbourne has left fans and loved ones reeling, with a close friend admitting his death was "unexpected to be this soon". Yet in the midst of heartbreak, it's been revealed the music legend fulfilled one final wish before he died.
Despite ongoing struggles with his health, the Black Sabbath frontman managed to see through a long-held dream he shared with wife Sharon — returning home to the English countryside.
Ozzy and Sharon, who married in 1982, had spoken openly about their desire to leave the United States behind and settle once more in rural Buckinghamshire. That wish came true in the final two years of Ozzy’s life, when the couple quietly relocated to their mansion in the Home Counties.
The move offered the pair the peace and privacy they longed for, away from the spotlight, as Ozzy faced the final stages of his illness.

The short clip, posted just 48 hours before the legendary Black Sabbath frontman passed away, shows Ozzy enjoying a quiet morning with Kelly and her son Sidney. Seated at the breakfast table, the rock icon looked calm and cheerful, sipping his coffee while immersed in his iPad.
Wearing his signature long hair tied back in a bun and a pair of headphones over his ears, Ozzy appeared at ease despite his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. At one point in the video, he glanced up and acknowledged the camera, offering a warm, playful gesture to fans watching online.
The post, which quickly attracted nearly 90,000 likes, showed a softer, more personal side of the Prince of Darkness, who had given his final performance with Black Sabbath just days earlier.
It was a poignant glimpse of a music legend at peace, surrounded by family, shortly before his death.

Fox News have posted this iconic mugshot of Ozzy when he was arrested.
Ozzy ended up in a Memphis drunk tank following his May 14, 1984, tour stop at the Mid-South Coliseum.
The heavy metal icon was arrested at 12:30AM on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication after police reportedly found him “staggering drunk” in the city’s famous Beale Street entertainment district.
Reflecting on his struggles with substance abuse, Osbourne later admitted: “See, I can’t have a casual line of coke – that doesn’t equate in my head. I never went to the bar for a drink; I never smoked a joint. I used to go into a bar to get absolutely shitfaced. It didn’t really occur to me that other people were going there for a drink.”
After spending five hours sobering up in a Memphis jail cell, Osbourne was released and did not face a court appearance. He resumed his Bark at the Moon tour shortly afterward, performing in Nashville, Tennessee, and Jacksonville, Florida, in the days that followed.
Rest in peace, Ozzy Osbourne. A true Rock N' Roll icon. Remember his mugshot in a St. Louis Blues jersey? Pure Ozzy! STL fans will never forget.

Motorhead said they had lost a "dear friend today" after the death of Ozzy.
In a social media post, they said: "We lost our dear friend today today. Ozzy was a pioneer, a guiding force for all in hard rock and metal, and a great guy too.
"Lemmy and Ozzy were brothers in arms who enjoyed many adventures together, and his loss is seismic. RIP Ozzy, we will always love and celebrate you..."
Ozzy once met Queen Elizabeth II during her Golden Jubilee weekend. He was standing next to singer-actor Cliff Richard. “She took one look at the two of us, said ‘Oh, so this is what they call variety, is it?’ then cracked up laughing. I honestly thought that Sharon had slipped some acid into my cornflakes that morning,” he wrote in the book I Am Ozzy.
Ozzy and Sharon had made it clear that they wanted to move back to the UK from the United States.
Amidst his health battle, Ozzy was desperate to return home, and had been expected to return to his and Sharon's Buckinghamshire home.
After living in Los Angeles for 20 years, he said in August 2022: "Everything's f***ing ridiculous (in America)."
It seems he achieved his final wish, as the family shared the location as "Birmingham, England," as they announced Ozzy's death, seemingly revealing that he had returned home one final time.

He penned he was "so glad" he and Ozzy were able to perform for a final time together in Black Sabbath's final performance at Villa Park on July 5.

Jack went on to add: "The Prince of Darkness himself, the frontman of one of the most important heavy metal bands, Black Sabbath, whose second album, Paranoid, remains without doubt the most influential metal album of all time.
"If you've had a chance to listen to the album, you'll know when I say this. But if not, the riffs were cutthroat and raw and I mean, there really wasn't a consideration to be something or play up to a certain way. There was only concern to be heard.
"And this track that I want to play you from Black Sabbath tonight was the opener to the album. It was emblematic, set the tone and completely ambitious in its time, which was 1970, by the way. Fresh off the back of the chokehold of The Beatles, this felt like something fresh and different and exciting.
"And Ozzy's voice felt timelessly evil, filled with temptation and snare. There was no way once you heard Ozzy do his thing that you were going anywhere but listening to Black Sabbath. Riding the rhythm and blues that had so far shaped the sound of rock and roll, Ozzy Osbourne, on this track and beyond, shaped himself as the Prince of Darkness. Rest in peace, to a legend."

He was able to say thank you and good bye in the most beautiful way!"

We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out. The director we have is absolutely phenomenal. I can’t say who he is but we are very lucky to have him and he is a die hard fan. I have the smiley knee tattoos that my dad has and he (our director) has them too. The film is in good hands."

He penned on social media: "I didn’t think you would leave so soon. The last time we met, you were so full of life, and your laugh filled up the room.
"But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t. I will never forget you - you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough. You took us on your adventure - an adventure that started it all."
He went on to add: "I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time."

In May, he told Sirius XM: "I am in heavy training because I haven't done any physical work for the last seven years.
"By hook or by crook. I've got to make it there. I have got this trainer guy who helps people get back to normal. It's hard going, but he's convinced that he can pull it off for me. I'm giving it everything I've got.
"It's endurance. The first thing that goes when you're laid up is your stamina. I am having my blood pressure taken 15 times a day... I've got this f***ing device on my finger. It's a monitor to say how my heart rate is. I'm constantly in training seven days a week I've got this guy who's virtually living with me, and I'm in bed by seven."
