Sydney Sweeney Serves Face on the ‘Flawless’ September 2025 Cover of WSJ. Magazine

WSJ Magazine doesn’t command our attention like it once did when Kristina O’Neill was at the helm. During O’Neill’s tenure, covers could take our breath away on the regular. Since 2023, Sarah Ball has been installed as the publication’s editor-in-chief. We did, nevertheless, fawn over an Ayo Edebiri cover back in June. Up next on the cover of WSJ Magazine is Sydney Sweeney, who fronts the September 2025 issue of the magazine. The American actress serves face in the regal and poised portrait cover shot, captured by the photographer Elizaveta Porodina. Gazing down Porodina’s lens, Sydney is dressed by cover shoot stylist Tonne Goodman wearing Graff jewelry and Miu Miu (a look plucked straight from the Fall 2025 collection).

“It’s gorgeous!” exclaimed WAVES immediately upon checking out the cover.
“What a truly stunning and flawless cover shot. About time WSJ Magazine started serving up this level of fabulosity once again. I used to adore this magazine, but it has most definitely fallen off, following Kristina O’Neill’s exit. This September cover is a step in the right direction,” approved vogue28.
“The cover and editorial are both very beautiful,” MModa admired.
Forum member tigerrouge commented: “Although I like that it’s an unexpected combination of subject and photographer, it’s something new-ish for Sydney Sweeney to be portrayed like this.”
“WSJ‘s readership will eat this right up,” enthused KoV. “I don’t think the photos are disastrously bad, but Porodina’s style isn’t right for Sweeney. Whoever commissioned this doesn’t understand her appeal.”
“[Paolo] Roversi Porodina is not. Her way with lighting, filters and post production just gets in the way. It’s like looking through astigmatism with cataracts,” Cocteau Stone critiqued.
