The Alien: Earth Trailer Is Bloody Cool

The Alien: Earth Trailer Is Bloody Cool
preview for 15 of The Best Horror Movies

Alien is headed to Earth. Believe it or not, throughout all seven Alien films (not including Alien vs. Predator), humanity has only ever fought the xenomorph nightmare in space. Now, the dangerous killer is on our turf. Luckily for us, there’s still some time to prepare. FX’s upcoming Alien: Earth series takes place in a future where intergalactic space travel is possible. However, Alien's first foray onto the small screen arrives on Hulu much sooner.

Alien: Earth follows a woman named Wendy (Sydney Chandler), who is the first person to transfer from a human body into a synthetic host. Years later, Wendy and her ragtag group of soldiers investigate the deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot after it crash-lands on Earth. In what should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, the ship is full of Xenomorphs.

In the first official trailer for Alien: Earth, Wendy and her crew board the USCSS Maginot to discover broken vessels and blood smeared on the walls. “It’s like a zoo, but all the animals got out,” says one of their crew members. Later, another shipmate reveals that the vessel “collected five different lifeforms from the darkest corners of the universe.” Damn, we definitely don’t want that on Earth.

Alien skeptics can feel at ease from the footage released so far. FX certainly isn’t holding a tight leash on the budget for Alien: Earth, and the visuals looks incredibly promising. Plus, the series rests in good hands. Led by showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargo) and executive producer Ridley Scott, Alien: Earth also stars Timothy Olyphant (Justified: City Primeval), Alex Lawther (Andor), and Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror). You can watch the trailer above.

Alien: Earth is set to premiere on FX on August 12, and it'll stream on Hulu and Disney+. The series will run for eight episodes until the finale on September 23.
