The war series with a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score perfect for Band of Brothers fans

Band of Brothers is one of the most popular war television show. While the acclaimed HBO programme is still hailed by many as one of the best, its fans may enjoy another, this time British, series. Screen Rant says World On Fire (2019-2023) is unmissable for Band of Brothers fans.
The series is a British war drama that follows the lives of ordinary people across Europe during World War II. Set in Britain, Poland, France, and Germany, the series explores how global conflict transforms relationships, identity, and everyday life. Central to the story is Harry, a British translator caught between his Polish lover, Kasia, and his girlfriend, Lois, in Manchester.
As the war progresses, from the fall of Warsaw to Dunkirk and the Blitz, characters face love, loss, and impossible choices.
Screen Rant says: “While the focus of Band of Brothers is always on the soldiers, it [World On Fire] does something few war stories do and examines the citizens living through their countries being invaded on both sides of the conflict, The British series World On Fire shifts the focus of World War 2, from soldiers to ordinary civilians.”
It adds: “It is an interesting perspective to take as a reminder to viewers that some of the most harrowing aspects of the war involved people who were not involved in the fighting.
“Even though it might not be the most historically accurate show for its period, it still pulls off a decent job in honoring the unsung heroes of the era — definitely one among shows like Band of Brothers that can't be missed.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has an impressive near-perfect 92% rating.
One person who reviewed the series on IMDb said: “We have seen plenty of Wartime dramas which see it from the British point of view, I was impressed to see this told from the point of view of the Polish, an often overlooked aspect.
“It features breathtaking special effects, it looks lavish and features some terrific performances, Lesley Manville and Sean Bean in particular stand out.”
If you’re looking for a new series to watch, this could be the perfect one for you.
