Donald Trump lost it with reporters live on BBC Breakfast as a row erupted on Air Force One. Trump was fielding questions from journalists about the peace deal he’s attempting to secure between Palestine and Israel after successfully gaining a ceasefire in Gaza. But things quickly went wrong as one British journalist grilled him.

The reporter asked: “I wanted to ask you about your conversation with world leaders today. You said that everybody is unified over your plan, but we heard from President El-Sisi calling for the two state solution and independent Palestinians.” But Trump insisted: “You’re talking about a different plan, I’m talking about something very much different, I’m talking about rebuilding Gaza.

“I’m not talking about single state or double state or two state. We’re talking about the rebuilding of Gaza.”

He was pressed: “What’s the road ahead with governing?” and responded: “Well, we’ll have to see. A lot of people like the one-state solution, some people like a two-state solution so we’ll have to see. I haven’t commented on that.”

When Trump was asked, “How do you see bridging that gap?”, he was calm as he said: “At some point I decide what I think is right, but I’d be in coordination with other states and other countries.”

But things quickly turned tense as the reporter asked: “And are you satisfied? I mean, some people might say it feels premature declaring peace for the whole Middle East-“ and was cut off by Trump.

The president fumed: “Premature? Why? You want more people to be killed? What do you want, another 300,000, 400,000 people to be killed, is that what you’re looking for?”

The reporter interjected: “But in terms of the risks in Gaza-“ and was again cut off, with Trump saying: “Risk? Risk? So we let them fight on for another couple of years? Let some more buildings fall down on top of people, keep it going? No, no, we did it the right way. I think our timing was perfect, actually. You don’t really mean that, you mean you want them to fight on.”

“I’m just asking about the phase of negotiations and how confident you are,” the reporter tried, but Trump simply said: “We have a lot of power. That was a power rule.”
