What Did Adriana Lima Do to Deserve Such ‘Mediocre’ Covers of Vogue China?

Rocco Liu continues to find his footing installed at the top job at Vogue China HQ. Subsequent to taking up the mantle of the Chinese fashion bible in 2024 (having replaced Margaret Zhang), some of China’s most prolific models like Lina Zhang, He Cong, Jiahui Zhang, Liu Wen, and Fei Fei Sun have fronted the magazine. Next up on the cover of Vogue China is Adriana Lima. The Brazilian bombshell is celebrated across a selection of July 2025 covers as cover girl, with photographer Ziqian Wang called upon to capture the occasion, and Liu Xiao reporting for styling duties. Throughout the accompanying cover feature, Adriana is joined by her family while goes solo in each of the cover images.

“Those are rough. Maybe the one with the boxing glove is the best but this looks more like Turkish Vogue to me,” critiqued marsnoop2.
“It’s not executed properly. These are rough edits. You have Adriana Lima and you produce this? Mediocre at best. Yes, she looks good, but it doesn’t look well thought out. These covers look like behind-the-scenes shots. It’s either the photographer who didn’t know how to capture her while moving or the editor who chose these photos that look disjointed,” Bertrando3 disapproved.
“The first close up where Adriana emerges out of the water staring directly into the lens should have been the only cover,” declared forum member oaklee91.
Vogue28 commented: “The Adriana Lima cover story does indeed feel like a massively missed opportunity. The first cover is the only decent cover out of the selection, but even with that… I’m not impressed!”
