Where to get vaccinations for international travel in Spain

Your passports are in date, you've already got your foreign currency ready and an itinerary planned for your big international trip. But do you need any special vaccinations?

If you're making an international trip, depending on where in the world you're going you might need to get vaccinated against the risk of certain regional diseases and illnesses.

Fortunately the Spanish public health system has this covered and the process is simple (and free).

Where can I get vaccinated?

If you're able to access public healthcare in Spain, you can be vaccinated for free in any of Spain's Centros de Vacunación Internacional (International Vaccination Centres).

These can be found throughout the country, whether at specialist vaccination centres or as part of health centres or hospitals.

How much does it cost?

If you're legally entitled to sanidad pública in Spain (public healthcare) the vaccinations will be free.

What do I need to bring with me?

In order to go to the vaccination centre, you should bring your health card, vaccination booklet (including childhood vaccination record) and as much information as possible about the trip you are going to make.

Bigger cities like Madrid or Valencia often have their own specialist vaccination centres for international travellers, such as this one in the capital.

What about if I have private healthcare?

Most private healthcare providers in Spain will do pre-travel international vaccinations. Quirón Salud, for example, has 'Unidad del Viajero Internacional' connected to some of its hospitals across the country.
