AirPods slashed in price but we've spotted an Apple deal that's even better
Genuinely good price reductions on Apple products are sometimes like buses - you wait around forever for one to turn up only for two to come along at once. That’s exactly the case today, with two sets of popular Apple-made wireless earbuds on sale at Amazon.
The always-popular AirPods Pro 2, Apple’s latest premium flagship earbuds are currently on sale for £189, a solid £40 reduction on their £229 RRP. The current offer is only £10 more than the lowest ever price these impressive buds have sold for on Amazon, according to price checker site Camelcamelcamel.
I’ve used the AirPods Pro 2 since they were released, and they’ve remained a firm favourite. For context, I test and review scores of wireless earbuds, so I’m up to speed with the best of the best. AirPods Pro 2 are among the most comfortable buds to wear for many hours on end, and they have superb noise cancellation. Sound is solid, as is battery life, and pairing with Apple devices is seamless.
But I concede that even at the sale price, £189 isn’t exactly pocket change for many people. It’s a lot to spend on anything.
That’s why I’ve had a dig online and found a much cheaper pair of Apple earbuds that are currently heavily discounted and have many of the same features as AirPods Pro 2.
Amazon is selling the Beats Studio Buds for just £69, an absolutely huge price cut on the usual £159.99 RRP. Beats is owned by Apple, so investing in a pair of Beats buds is a clever way to get many of the same features you’d find on AirPods but often for cheaper prices. That’s not to say Beats are inferior - they just see better discounts than Apple branded products.
The Beats Studio Buds have active noise cancellation (ANC) and a transparency mode that can let in sound around you, just like on the AirPods Pro 2. You also get eight hours of playback on a charge, with 24 hours overall with the fully charged case. With Amazon selling the Beats in black, red or white, you also get more choice of style here.
The Studio Buds add IPX4 sweat and water resistance for peace of mind while exercising in them, and three tip sizes in the box should ensure a snug fit. These buds also support spatial audio playback on Apple devices.
Perhaps best of all, Beats are also designed to play nice with Android phones, unlike AirPods. That means they can quickly pair to your Android phone and you don’t lose out on many features.
