  • The cooperation agreement between the two companies was signed during the DSEI Japan defense exhibition.
  • ICEYE Polska and Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności No. 1 will provide the Polish Army with a Satellite Earth Observation System under the MikroSAR program.
  • ICEYE is a company of Polish-Finnish origin operating on the global space services market, winner of the Investor Without Borders competition, awarded during this year's European Economic Congress .

The constellation , consisting of up to 24 satellites, will provide Earth observation data for the military, public administration and commercial sectors.

The cooperation agreement between ICEYE and IHI Corporation (IHI) was signed during the DSEI Japan defense exhibition held every two years at Makuhari Messe near Tokyo.

Under the planned collaboration, IHI and ICEYE will establish a satellite manufacturing facility in Japan to serve the country. The initiative is intended to support Japan's space ambitions by developing industry and strengthening national security. The venture is pending final agreements and official approvals.

- We have maintained close relations with Japan since 2018, building mutual trust and long-term commitment. By cooperating with Japanese organizations, ICEYE supports their defense capabilities and strengthens their common security . We are committed to creating new relationships and deepening mutual relations with all industrial and government organizations in Japan - said Rafał Modrzewski, co-founder of ICEYE.

The company provides radar data in near real time

ICEYE provides continuous Earth monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes – regardless of location, faster and more precisely than ever before.

The company owns and operates the world's largest constellation of observation satellites equipped with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), providing near real-time radar data. Customers have access to information around the clock, even in difficult weather conditions, allowing them to make the best decisions.

"The world is becoming increasingly unsafe today. Japan's National Defense Strategy recognizes the importance of strengthening sovereign capabilities in space, while opening the door to cooperation with allies and countries with which Tokyo shares strategic interests. This agreement is the first step toward realizing a new generation of capabilities that will be crucial to Japan's national security in the years to come," said Atsushi Satō, President of IHI's Aero Engine, Space & Defense business.

The army will gain independence in obtaining radar image data

In mid-May 2025, the Armaments Agency signed an agreement - with a consortium consisting of ICEYE Polska and Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności No. 1 - for the delivery of the Earth Observation Satellite System in the MikroSAR program for the Polish Army, as part of the development of reconnaissance capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces.

Under this contract , the Polish-Finnish company is to deliver three radar satellites for the MikroSAR program, to ensure the armed forces' independence in terms of acquiring radar image data. The value of the contract is estimated at PLN 860 million. The contract also includes an option to purchase another three satellites and a ground segment within 12 months.
