There's good and bad news for Samsung Galaxy fans. Something new is coming soon, and while that's great for those in need of an upgrade, it's not so rewarding for anyone with certain models in their pockets. Although we don't yet know a launch date, Samsung has given some big hints about what's to come with it looking like new, and very thin, foldables are on their way. These will almost certainly replace the current Z call makers, including the Z Fold5 and Z Fold6

"Introduced in 2019, the first Galaxy Fold was a completely new form factor that combined the portability of a smartphone with the extensive productivity of a tablet," Samung said in a recent post.

"But smartphones are constant companions that we tuck into our pockets. To that end, Samsung engineers and designers are refining each generation of the Galaxy Z series to be thinner, lighter and more durable than the last. This year, that journey reaches a new milestone. The newest Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet — meticulously crafted and built to last."

To add to the excitement, Samsung has also posted a teaser clip showing the silhouette of a razor-thin device.

Other firms, such as Honor and Oppo, are already pushing the boundaries with foldables that are ludicrously skinny, and now it appears that Samsung will follow with its own slimmed-down upgrade.

If it can reduce the thickness, it will certainly make these Galaxy devices far more appealing as - with dual screens snapped together - they can currently feel a little cumbersome.

We don't know full details or specs but we do know this device could get a new name. Instead of being called the Galaxy Z Fold it appears it may get the Ultra name instead.

"The Ultra experience is ready to unfold," Samsung teased in its latest update.

We'll hopefully find out a launch date soon, but rumours suggest the next Unpacked event from Samsung will take place in July. If correct, we could be just a few weeks away from finding out what's in store for the firm's foldables and if it can make its rivals.
