Limerick boss John Kiely says he’s really happy with where his team’s at right now after having defeated Waterford by six points yesterday evening.

The 0-28 to 0-22 victory marked the Treaty men’s first win of this year’s Munster senior hurling championship campaign, with Cork to come next in the Mick Mackey Cup race in two weeks’ time before a date with All-Ireland champions Clare.

Speaking to RTE Sport after yesterday’s win at Walsh Park, Kiely said he has been delighted with his team’s energy levels thus far in the championship.

"Every game in the Munster championship is really, really tough," he said. "We've had two games on the road, delighted to get three points out of four. We head back to Limerick now and we've two really tough games coming up back there as well.

"We do it knowing our two performances have been very, very good. Our energy levels have been super. Our group is getting stronger. We're in a good place, I'm really happy with where we're at.

"We know we've a couple of pieces we need to go after, particularly our efficiency in front of goals, that's one piece we're working on very hard at the moment. But other than that, there was an awful lot of positives for us.

"We'll take it one game at a time. It's a tough, tough competition, you're never out of the group until you're out of it. We're embracing that. It's a pleasure and an honour to be part of such a competition."
