Chelsea player ratings vs Lincoln: Garnacho poor as 8/10 star saves Enzo Maresca

Chelsea player ratings vs Lincoln: Garnacho poor as 8/10 star saves Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca's rotated Chelsea side were forced to come from behind against third-tier Lincoln City to book their spot in the League Cup fourth round draw. The world champions had to do it the hard way, but it's a result that ends a run of three consecutive defeats for the capital club.

It looked like being a worrying night for Chelsea when Lewis Montsma clattered the post after just three minutes, with the home side continuing to apply the pressure thereafter. A deserved goal eventually arrived just before the break when Robert Street capitalised on a mix-up in the Blues' defence to slide home the opener.

Only five second-half minutes were needed to flip the script though, with Tyrique George proving the main protagonist. The youngster netted a sumptuous equaliser to restore parity, before slipping through Facundo Buonanotte for the away side's second. Express Sport hands out player ratings after a difficult night for Chelsea.

Filip Jorgensen - 6

Looked shaky when balls were being launched into the area by the League One outfit. Booked for time wasting in the 89th minute.

Malo Gusto - 6

Didn't exactly stake a claim for the starting right-back spot but did show glimpses of quality on the ball. Did manage to get better as the game went on and dug in when Chelsea were looking to see the game out.

Trevoh Chalobah - 5

Flat-footed for the Lincoln goal when he should've reacted quicker to the danger in front of him.

Wesley Fofana - 4

His nightmare Chelsea stint continues, with Fofana having looked out of his depth at times against the League One team. Injuries have certainly taken their toll, but he doesn't look up to it right now.

Jorrel Hato - 6

One of the better performers in the Chelsea backline, specifically when it came to his on-the-ball ability. The teenager is a classy operator and should have a long and succesful career ahead of him.

Andrey Santos - 6

Picked up an early yellow card but didn't let that stop him from covering plenty of ground.

Enzo Fernandez - 5

Not the World Cup winner's best outing in a Chelsea shirt, with the Argentine responsible for the pass that lead to the Lincoln goal. Was hooked with the game in the balance 20 minutes from the end.

Facundo Buonanotte - 7

Kept his cool in front of goal when presented with the second-half chance, but lacked a real clinical edge as Chelsea went in search of the game-killing third.

Jamie Gittens - 5

Ought to have netted the opener in the first half when picked out by Fernandez at the back post, but the recent arrival skewed his effort over the crossbar from close range. Put himself about during his 70-minute cameo, but lacked quality with almost everything he did.

Tyrique George - 8

Very nearly moved on from the Stamford Bridge outfit on deadline day, and has found minutes hard to come by so far this season. He showed his class on a night when some of his team-mates went into hiding. Would've been disappointed to have been taken off 20 minutes from time.

Alejandro Garnacho - 5

Subject to plenty of criticism from the Lincoln fans when subbed off by Maresca with 60 minutes to play. Did very little to impress on his first start for new club Chelsea.

Substitutes:

Shim Mheuka - 6

A nice moment for the youngster to feature for the first team.

Estevao - 6

Didn't get up to much off the bench.

Marc Cucurella - 5

All over the place a bit and failed to settle into a rhythm. Picked up a needless yellow card.

Pedro Neto - 6

Didn't contribute to a goal, but looked a step above most of the Chelsea attackers when he came off the bench. Combined well in the final third and came close to netting Chelsea's third.
