Daniel Sturridge makes awkward gaffe live on Sky Sports during Liverpool's win over Man City as presenter David Jones is forced to correct him

Daniel Sturridge was left wishing he could hit the rewind button after making a blunder during Liverpool's 2-0 win at Manchester City.
The former England star was one of the pundits on Sky Sports' Super Sunday show as his old sides clashed at the Etihad Stadium.
Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were on target in the first half as Liverpool moved 11 points clear of Arsenal, with Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane declaring the title race over.
Sturridge has brought a refreshing sense of humour and energy to his punditry but slipped up at half-time when presenter David Jones asked if he could see City mounting a comeback.
The ex-striker suggested that City might bring on Erling Haaland - despite the Norwegian being excluded from the squad in one of the day's biggest stories.
'They've been prying away and giving themselves opportunities,' said Sturridge.

Presenter David Jones was quick to correct Sturridge, with many fans commenting online
'But when they're getting crosses in the box, there's not that presence in the box to get on the end of it.
'So, we might end up seeing Haaland at some stage in the game.'
Pep Guardiola had left Haaland out of his squad after he suffered a knee issue and had to be replaced during City's 4-0 win over Newcastle last weekend.
And presenter Jones moved quickly to correct Sturridge, saying: 'Not today because he's, of course, missing. But maybe there might be one or two options they can turn to.'
As he was on the brink of handing back to the commentary team, Jones had to issue his correction in a curt manner and Sturridge didn't get the chance to respond.
That meant the moment lacked some levity and sounded rather abrupt, with fans picking up on the awkward incident on social media.
'Cracking piece of punditry by Daniel Sturridge. Sky Sports has fallen off a cliff,' one user wrote on X.
'Sturridge with a shocker from that Haaland shout. Still rate him as a pundit though,' another said.

Viewers had a mixed reaction to Sturridge's slip-up, with some coming down harsh and others having sympathy

'How can you be a pundit yet not know who is even playing?' one asked.
Joey Barton chipped in: 'Get rid of Sturridge and get one of the women on!'
Some were quick to defend Sturridge, with one writing: 'Sturridge is genuinely excellent in his analysis and adds character and personality to it. He made a mistake. Who cares?'
Another said: 'Every pundit has made a mistake tbf.'
Sturridge also received praise later in the show for taking sides with Mich Richards after Jamie Carragher suggested the Africa Cup of Nations was not a 'major tournament'.
Carragher suggested that Salah might typically be disadvantaged in the race for the Ballon d'Or by playing for Egypt in Africa, as opposed to a European or South American nation.
There may be some truth to Carragher's claim - the last player to win the Ballon d'Or from an African nation was George Weah of Liberia in 1995, although Senegal's Sadio Mane came second in 2022.
As Carragher points out, players that perform well in either the Champions League or the Euros/Copa America usually tend to win the award in the modern era.
But Sturridge hit back: 'It's a fact. It's a fact. It's a fact. If you win the Euros or Copa America it's deemed to be big so the AFCON is in the same level.'
