Darragh Canavan Produced All-Time Great Assist For Brother Ruairí In Tyrone Semi-Final

Darragh Canavan Produced All-Time Great Assist For Brother Ruairí In Tyrone Semi-Final

There was a massive result in the Tyrone senior championship over the weekend, with defending champions Errigal Ciarán coming up short in their semi-final against Trillick.

Having been All-Ireland finalists earlier this year, many viewed Errigal Ciarán as the favourites to retain their title this season. Trillick were always likely to provide a stern test in this fixture, with these clubs having contest the last two county finals.

Considering those two finals were decided by the tightest of margins, it was no surprise to see this game go down to the wire once again. In the end, it was Trillick who came emerged as winners on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-11.

While Errigal Ciarán came out on the wrong end of this result, it was one of their players who provided the most memorable moment in the game.

Darragh Canavan would end the match with a personal tally of 0-3, but it was an assist that he provided for one of his teammates that was his most eye-catching contribution.

Ten minutes into the contest, he would pick out his brother Ruairí with a sensational pass, with the younger Canavan sibling going on to produce an excellent finish to raise the first green flag of the afternoon.

Unfortunately from the Canavan brothers' perspective, this goal did not prove enough to get their team over the line.

Trillick will now advance to a third consecutive Tyrone final, where they will face either Loughmacrory or Carrickmore. Those two sides played out a thrilling draw in their semi-final on Sunday, with the pair set to do battle in a replay on Friday evening.
