Donegal set to be without McFadden-Ferry in 2026

Donegal are set to be without Odhran McFadden-Ferry next season as the defender gets set to head back to Australia.
The Gaoth Dobhair clubman returned to Jim McGuinness’s squad at the start of the 2025 campaign and ended a three-year absence for the Tir Chonaill men when he came off the bench in March’s victory over Derry in Ballyshannon.
McFadden-Ferry would go on to earn a starting berth against the Oak Leafers in the preliminary round of Donegal’s Ulster SFC title defence the following month and came off the bench in the wins over Down and Armagh, with the latter being in extra time as McGuinness’s men claimed back-to-back Anglo-Celt Cup crowns.
The three-time Ulster SFC winner was introduced as a second-half substitute in his county’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final victory over Meath at Croke Park in July.
His departure is also set to be a blow for Gaoth Dobhair who are currently gearing up for a crunch county SFC quarter-final against Kilcar this Saturday in Glenties (throw-in 7.30pm).
