Doon thump Patrickswell for first win in Limerick SHC

Doon got their first win of this year’s Limerick senior hurling championship last night (Thursday) by dealing Patrickswell a comprehensive 3-23 to 0-14 defeat in Kilmallock.
Having drawn with Na Piarsaigh (1-19 to 2-16) in last week’s opener at the same venue, the holders made sure to claim both points this time around with Chris Thomas’s goal helping them towards a 1-14 to 0-9 lead at half-time.
The points of county stars Diarmaid Byrnes and Aaron Gillane helped reduce Patrickswell’s arrears to half a dozen points, but Doon would respond with three unaswered points before a pair of Pat Ryan goals well and truly put the game to bed.
Adam English and Gareth Thomas helped the round off the scoring the for the defending, contributing 0-7 each in the end as their team won by an 18-point margin.
