Down v Galway: How To Watch, TV Info, Team News

The All-Ireland series will finally enter the knockout phase this weekend, with the clash between Down and Galway perhaps the pick of an intriguing slate of preliminary quarter-final fixtures.

The pair will face off in Newry this weekend, with Down granted home advantage on the back of finishing as runner-ups in Group 3. Galway could only manage a third-place finish in Group 4, with Armagh and Dublin coming ahead of them in what many had dubbed as the 'group of death' in this year's championship.

Galway have struggled to hit their peak in the All-Ireland series, needing a dramatic victory over an understrength Armagh side in order to be sure of their place in the next round. As for Down, they will be hoping to rebound after a defeat against Monaghan last time out.

Down v Galway team news

Galway are likely to be without star forward Damien Comer for this game, having also missed last weekend's win over Armagh after picking up an injury in training. Padraic Joyce said that it seemed unlikely that Comer would be fit for the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals:

Poor old Damien again, he's picked up a nick there on Thursday night in training and just wasn't fit to come today.

Probably won't be available either next week as well I'd say.

As for Down, they will be hoping to have a clean bill of health on the back of their loss to Monaghan last weekend.

Full panels for Sunday's game will be confirmed over the next 24 hours or so.
