Furious Chelsea fans have ripped into Paul Scholes after his comments on Moises Caicedo went viral on social media.
As the curtain closes on the 2024-25 campaign, many fans have taken the time to reflect on who were the standout performers for their respective sides.
For Chelsea fans, many would suggest that Ecuadorian international Caicedo has been their star man and the midfielder even swept up the accolades at the club's end-of-season award ceremony.
However - despite the praise from team-mates, staff and supporters - Man United legend Scholes admitted he wasn't convinced by the midfielder's displays.
Speaking on The Overlap, brought to you by SkyBet, Scholes explained: 'I think a lot of people talk about Caicedo. 'He's played 38 games'. Brilliant, what an achievement.
'But was there much quality? Did he create a lot? Did he control a lot of games for Chelsea? I don't remember that.

Ecuadorian international Caicedo has been one of Chelsea's standout performers this season
'I think there's an era now, with midfielders especially, where you can go through seasons and games without really contributing'.
While there was little rebuttal from those fans in the studio during the recording, it didn't take long for those on social media to refute Scholes' claims.
In a post on X, one user wrote: 'This is genuinely one of the worst bits of punditry I've ever seen. And if Paul Scholes has said this he quite simply doesn't watch much football.
'Saying Caicedo is 'not contributing much' is absolutely outrageous.
'This season compared with every other midfielder in the PL Caicedo has - Most passes, most passes completed, most touches, most possession won, most passes into final 3rd, most tackles.'
Another fan, who also shared the clip of Scholes talking on Caicedo, said: 'Paul Scholes doesn't believe Moises Caicedo 'contributes a lot' for Chelsea.
'He also questioned his quality, creativity and controlling of games'.
Another user said: 'Paul Scholes is the worst pundit by a mile!
'You can't watch Chelsea's games, and do even a 30-second stat check, and think Moises Caicedo that was a star for Brighton, and now Chelsea doesn't 'contribute a lot'. The eye test doesn't lie. The stats don't lie. He's wrong'.

Fans were quick to rip into Scholes and claim it was 'one of the worst bits of punditry ever'

Caicedo was named Chelsea's men's player of the season and players' player of the season
At the end of May, Caicedo swept up two awards at Chelsea's end after being named the men's player of the season and the players' player of the season.
Blues star Cole Palmer was quick to heap praise on the Ecuardorian, afterwards, as he said: 'When you've got him next to you it's a dream really.
'Wow, machine. From the start of the season until now I think he's been our best player. He's a machine, wins everything back always.
'Always 100 per cent every day, humble and nice to everyone. Everyone loves him.'
