Sadhbh Shefflin Scores A Point Reminiscent Of Her Dad Henry As Kilkenny Win All-Ireland Minor Title

Kilkenny won their eight Electric Ireland All-Ireland camogie title with a nine point defeat of Cork in Nowlan Park on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Niamh Davis, Ona Kennedy and Emily Phelan inspired Kilkenny to glory, winning their first title since 2021 by 3-8 to 0-8 in front of a jubilant home crowd.
Kilkenny lost the semi-final last year to eventual champs Tipperary and also lost the U16 final in 2024. So they were determined to right those wrongs and they did just that, putting those disappointing defeats behind them, with a late point from Henry Shefflin's daughter Sadhbh crowning the victory.
Afterwards, their manager David Maher said last year's defeats were a big motivation for the team, and praised their resilience and hard work over the last few months. Cork had won two of the last three titles but fell short to Kilkenny again, as they did in 2021.

"You saw in the second half, the way we just powered on. It’s a testament to what they’ve put in over the last six, seven months. I’m just so happy.
“The 17-year-olds were U16 last year and were devastated when they got beat by Limerick in the All-Ireland semi-final last year.
"We used that as motivation, and ourselves, the minors, got beaten by Tipperary in extra time of the semi-final and they went on to win it, so we felt we were always capable of doing something special," he said.
Shefflin wore a green helmet and swung one over off the right, reminiscent of her father down through the years.
"Her father would be proud of that one," said Killian Whelan on commentary.
