Limerick may have had their seven-in-a-row dreams derailed in the Munster hurling final on Saturday, but they played a huge part in creating the epic occasion.

Saturday's game featured no shortage of jaw dropping moments, and while Cork would ultimately emerge as winners, John Kiely's men more than played their part.

So many of their great players stood up to be counted at the Gaelic Grounds. In particular Aaron Gillane had a number of ridiculous moments of skill.

Sheedy Had Brilliant Line About Aaron Gillane's Brief Soccer Career

As one of the most skilful players in the game at the moment, Aaron Gillane is no stranger to providing moments of genius on the biggest stage. That included yesterday's Munster final, with his incredible kicked pass in the buildup to Limerick's second goal a particular highlight.

The pass was analysed by the RTÉ panel after the full-time whistle and former Tipp manager Liam Sheedy had a brilliant line about Gillane's football prowess.

Donal Óg: Liam mentioned, Gillane had been so good over the last few years. Watch this for a pass. This was absolutely intentional. That pass from Gillane, to move a small sliotár at that pace.

Sheedy: Before he played a bit of soccer out there for a year or two. It didn't do him any harm today!

Sheedy was referring, of course, to Gillane's footballing career.

The Limerick marksman notably popped up with the Limerick club side Creeves Celtic during his well publicised absence from the Limerick hurling panel during the 2023 league campaign. Clearly, he has retained some of his skills from that spell in the other code.

While Limerick will be disappointed to see their dominance in Munster come to an end, there is no doubt that they will still be a force later in the All-Ireland series.
