The games were played amid heightened tension between the two countries, with Donald Trump stoking the fire ahead of the final.
The US president threatened tariffs, taunted Canada about becoming the 51st state - and referred to prime minister Trudeau as 'governor'.
Canadian fans booed the national anthem once more ahead of the game in Montreal, promoting JD Vance to jokingly threaten higher tariffs if America won the final.
'We’d like you to kick Canada’s a**es again because you don’t boo the United States of America,' the vice president said.
'And to Canada, if you don’t win, the tariffs are going even higher!' Vance joked. 'No I'm kidding... that's the president's decision!'
After Canada won the final, however, Trudeau didn't miss the chance to fire back. 'You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game,' he wrote on social media.
