Canadian shot put star Sarah Mitton is the lone Canadian competing at the first day of the event. The Brooklyn, N.S., native is the defending champ at the event, but faces stiff competition.
That includes back-to-back world champion Chase Jackson of the U.S., as well as the Dutch silver medallist from the world indoor championships, Jessica Schilder.
Mitton won her first Diamond League Trophy last September, joining previous winners Priscilla Lopes-Schliep (100m hurdler, 2010), shot putter Dylan Armstrong (2011) and sprinter Andre De Grasse, who won the men's 200m title in 2023.
The second day of the Diamond League Final begins on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. ET, and will stream live on CBCSports.ca and CBC Gem. For more information on athletics events streaming live on CBC Sports this season, click here to see the full broadcast schedule.
