Beautiful UK walk with 'colour-changing lake' so good the locals 'gatekeep' it

We have been blessed with a blissful stretch of clear skies, now is the ideal opportunity for a new outdoor adventure. For those itching to get out of the house for a scenic walk, we are spoilt for choice with an array of glorious trails just a stone's throw away.
This weekend presents the perfect moment to discover a new area – and there's one astonishing walk in Dorset that locals say they have been "gatekeeping" because of how beautiful and special it is.
The Blue Pool in the Isle of Purbeck, a stunning peninsula in Dorset, was originally an abandoned clay pit which was flooded by rainwater and now it forms an incredible lake with ever-changing colours.
It is one of the most unique and intriguing attractions in the area. The Blue Pool is surrounded by 25 acres of incredible woodland.
It opened as a tourist site in the 1930s and has been loved by visitors ever since. Visitors love hiking around the area, taking scenic photographs, and admiring the wildlife. A walk around the spot can be completed in under an hour and is suitable for those who want an easy walk or those looking for a challenge.
There is also a sweet cafe and gift shop at the site, as well as a plant sale area, and a children's play area. To visit the site, there is an entrance fee of £7.50 for adults, £3.75 for children over five. Children under five can visit for free and site is dog-friendly.
On Trip Advisor, people insist the Blue Pool is "very peaceful" and "wonderful". Some did note that the water changes colour all the time, so don't expect to see the bright blue water every time.
A video showing the spot's beauty was shared on TikTok recently and went viral. On page Can Go Travelling, the post dubbed the site a "UK hidden gem", adding: "I'm sure this is where fairies must live".
The video showed the stunning woodland, a bridge where children enjoy playing, cosy corners for picnics, the incredible huge trees, plus of course the Blue Pool lake.
The poster also noted that parking was free. They also shared: "We stayed at Catseye Cottage campsite which was a 10 minute drive away. Really lovely campsite and had toilets and showers."
People rushed to comment after being left wowed by the footage.
"Oh, lovely Dorset," commented one. "I have been there a few times, it's stunning," insisted another. One said it looks "so peaceful" while another said it is "really a gem".
One other wrote: "This looks stunning and so calm." "Wow, looks amazing!," added another. One other noted: "Wow, very nice! Looks so green."
One other observed: "It is pay to enter but it is genuinely so beautiful there."

The site is also near Corfe Castle and Furzebrook. The Blue Pool is located on Furzebrook Road, making Wareham a convenient point of access for visitors.
