Luckily, a new study by ChoiceQuote has revealed Europe's most in demand scenic road trip routes, based on Google search and social media data. One particular route has seen a staggering increase in the number of searches over the past 12 months. It stretches for an incredible 435 miles, allowing drivers to uncover beautiful scenery, historic sites and delicious food, all just a short distance from the UK.
The ChoiceQuote research found that the Northwest Coast of France was the most in-demand scenic road trip in Europe. The road trip saw a staggering 83,100% increase in Google searches over the last 12 months, averaging around 14,800 searches per month.

Drivers will travel through Brittany, Loire Valley and Normandy, uncovering beautiful scenery, historic sites and delicious French delicacies.
The road trip begins the moment you drive off the one-hour ferry from Dover in Calais, making it an accessible and easy destination, even for just the weekend.
Normandy is the most northwestern of the 18 French regions and was even named one of the world’s top regions to visit by Lonely Planet in 2019. Here travellers can find stunning white chalk cliffs, D-Day landing beaches including Omaha Beach, castles and walking trails.
Head to the seaside resort of Étretat for some of the best examples of rugged white cliffs and some stunning quiet beaches. These cliffs include three natural arches, of which one a pointed formation, also known as ‘the Needle’, rising up 70 meters above the sea and made famous by Monet.
Next, head to the incredible UNESCO Site of Le Mont-Saint-Michel, the most visited monument of Normandy, bordering Brittany. This medieval monastery is surrounded by a bay flooded daily by the tide, creating a magical island with an abbey at the top.
For somewhere a bit touristy, head to Saint-Malo in Brittany. Originally, it was a walled citadel built to protect the mouth of the Rance River from pirates. Walking through the cobbled streets of the fortified town, you can be transported back in time and appreciate the stunning views of the sea, including two islands home to their own forts, which can be reached on foot at low tide.
The Loire Valley has attractions for all types of tourists, from vibrant cities like Orleans to historical medieval towns such as Chinon, to stunning natural parks at Anjou. Be sure to stop in at Loire Châteaux for a chance to explore the castles and stunning gardens of the nearly fifty properties open to the public around the town of Tours, including Ambroise and Chenonceau.
To determine the UK’s most searched locations, ChoiceQuote collated a list of the top hidden gem road trip locations across Europe from a variety of online sources. Data for each of these locations was then collected including TikTok searches, Instagram hashtags, Instagram searches, Google searches and Google trend increase on KeywordTool.io. These were then each indexed and a total average was created to rank the locations. Data is accurate as of February 2025.
