Director Gareth Evans ("The Raid," "The Raid 2") knows how to stage action blockbusters. In the brutal Netflix thriller "Havoc"—the title translates to "chaos/devastation" in English—British film star Tom Hardy (47) fights and shoots away. And many around the world want to see it. In the first three days after its release on Netflix (April 25-27), the streaming service counted 29.8 million views for the new film starring Hardy ("Venom," "Legend").
The film was number one in 40 countries last week. "When a drug robbery spirals deadly out of control, a disillusioned cop fights his way through a corrupt city's underworld to save a politician's son," Netflix describes the 105-minute film.
"Shootouts in tight indoor and outdoor spaces sometimes seem to drag on for so long that the firefight feels like an extended drumroll," reads The Guardian newspaper's review. And The Hollywood Reporter wrote: "If you're looking for blood, guts, and creative hyperviolence to get your adrenaline pumping, this is the film for you."
