AI: Siemens and SAP call for comprehensive revision of European AI laws

According to a preliminary report, Busch stated that the European AI Act is one of the reasons "why we can't go full throttle here." The regulations are partly contradictory and overlap with existing laws. Busch described the Data Act as "toxic for the development of digital business models."
Law must be changed “substantially”Busch explained that he deliberately did not sign an urgent letter from industry representatives to the EU Commission calling for a moratorium on the rules, "because it didn't go far enough for me." It was not a matter of simply suspending the rules for a while. "In the meantime, we must make substantial changes to the law," demanded the Siemens CEO. Changing the data rules should take priority over investments in data centers. "We are sitting on a treasure trove of data in Europe, but we can't yet unlock it," said Busch. SAP CEO Klein warned against copying the US strategy of investing primarily in infrastructure. He added that no AI project had yet failed due to a lack of computing capacity.
