Alfons Schuhbeck: Four years and three months in prison for TV chef

In 2022, the Munich I Regional Court sentenced Schuhbeck to three years and two months in prison for tax evasion. However, the sentence is currently suspended because Schuhbeck is suffering from cancer and is receiving treatment outside of prison.

Schuhbeck had admitted the allegations in the new trial against him and admitted that he had known about the massive financial problems of his companies long before the official insolvency and had nevertheless illegally applied for Corona aid.

Schuhbeck's confession is part of a deal

His confession was part of a so-called plea deal, in which the prosecution and defense agreed with the court on a sentence of between four years and four years and eight months. Schuhbeck's defense attorney, Norbert Scharf, emphasized the defendant's cooperation and stated that, in his view, it would be possible to remain at the "lower end" of the agreement.
