IAEA: No increased radiation levels after US attacks on nuclear facilities

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), no radioactive contamination occurred during the US attacks on key nuclear facilities in Iran. "No elevated radiation levels have been reported" in the vicinity of the three attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, the IAEA announced on Sunday morning. The National Center for the Nuclear Safety System, which is subordinate to the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency, stated that there is "no danger" to the people living near the facilities.
The all-clear also came from beyond the Persian Gulf. "As a result of the US attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, no radioactive effects on the environment of the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf states were detected," the Saudi Arabian Atomic Energy Commission stated on the online service X.
The United States attacked the three Iranian nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow on Sunday night, thus intervening in the war between Israel and Iran. Iranian media confirmed the attacks. According to US President Donald Trump, Iran's most important nuclear enrichment facilities were "completely and totally destroyed."
Israel launched a major attack on Iran on June 13 and has since bombed nuclear facilities and military installations in the country. Israel justifies its actions with Iran's advanced nuclear program. Iran has since attacked Israel with missiles and drones.
Western states have accused Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons for years, a charge Tehran denies. According to an IAEA report, Iran has significantly increased its stockpile of uranium enriched to 60 percent in recent months. An enrichment level of approximately 90 percent is required to build nuclear weapons.
