The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) have been presented annually by the music television network MTV since 1984. Along with the Grammys, they are considered one of the most important international music awards – but with a different focus: While the Grammys primarily honor artistic achievements and sound recordings, the VMAs focus on music videos, visual creativity, and pop cultural moments.
For this year's ceremony, music videos released between June 20, 2024, and June 18, 2025, were considered. For the first time, the MTV Moonperson Award, as the award is known, was presented in the categories "Best Country" and "Best Pop Artist." Lady Gaga won the most awards. The American singer was nominated in twelve categories and won in four. Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each received three awards.
